The baby and the Cavapoo | Featured newborn session | Cornwall newborn photographer

Don’t forget the dog treats!!

… will now be on my list of reminders the day before any session that includes furry friends.

Baby Maeve and fluffy Zelda came in after a couple of postponements (ice and illness - typical Winter impediments!). Their wonderful mum immediately impressed me with her calm confidence and love for her babies. I have met many single mums with newborns for photoshoots and always think they’re amazing.

When you have a baby it is quite standard that you forget something important, with all you have to remember and do. Sometimes people arrive without their outfits, or the special blanket they were planning to incorporate etc. Fortunately nobody has yet forgotten the baby, so we’ve been able to go ahead with the session in most cases.

Anyway you guessed it - Jessica forgot to pack dog treats - the essential tool to use when you need a dog to be in a certain place for more than a nano-second.

Zelda the dog was really pretty, and such a good girl really! Although it was challenging to get her to do anything we had in mind, she was quite keen to be part of the session and I love what we managed to capture of the two of them.

Maeve is absolutely gorgeous and it was a lovely snuggly warm session on a very cold Winters’ day. In fact this shoot was on 23rd December, so there was a bit of Christmas magic in the air I think.

Despite the treats meaning we had to do a lot more cajoling and plenty of false starts and missed shots, I love what we got. And I can’t for Jessica to see how the big framed print has come out of Maeve and Zelda by the window!

This is the image she chose for her wall art.

Isn’t it gorgeous!

Here are a few more of my favourite images from the session!
