Preemie newborn session | Cornwall photographer

Preemie Newborn Photo Shoot in the studio, Cornwall

Poppy's mum Lee got in touch when Poppy was 3 weeks old, and we managed to squeeze in this sweet newborn session before I flew from Cornwall to South Africa for a summer break.  Poppy was titchy at 4lbs!  She decided to come along 6 weeks early, and was a perfectly healthy baby girl, just tiny!  Her due date was still 3 weeks off which was a mad thought.  I'm so glad we managed to fit this shoot in to capture her so small.

Her mum and dad are the most chilled out new parents I think I've ever met, and Poppy slept like a little dream the entire time (perhaps that explains it, ha ha).  Newborn sessions often run for a couple of hours - it always surprises new parents how long it can all take.  But when they're in that deep sleep already, it goes relatively quickly.  For such a wee thing, she had some strength, and managed to bust out of her wrap at the start!  Another surprising thing about newborns - they are brilliant wrigglers!

I focused on getting lots of shots of her in her daddy's hands, to show how tiny she was, and I love how they turned out.

Newborn photography sessions are held in my home studio in Tregony, or I can come to you.  If you're interested, try and get in touch before birth to avoid disappointment.  These sessions ideally happen within 10 days of birth and I can't always find time in my schedule if it's last minute.
