Things to do for Mothers Day in Cornwall

Mothers Day in Cornwall

Nothing, in my opinion - and I ac biased, is worthy of celebration more than mothers!! Mostly because so many mums work so hard with so little acknowledgement so I really do believe that we should take any opportunity to make as much of a fuss as possible!

Things to do on Mother’s Day in Cornwall

Mother’s Day always happens at such a lovely time of year - the Spring!

In Cornwall the daffodils have been around since January but they are usually at their best around this time. The magnolias are magnificent, and depending on how early things are happening it can even be time for blooming blossoms and all sorts of new buds and colours.

If you’re looking for ideas for something to do for Mothers Day in Cornwall, here are a few suggestions.

Visit a garden

Take in the colours of spring with a leisurely stroll around one of the beautiful gardens in Cornwall. Because I live on the Roseland, my favourites are The Lost Gardents of Heligan and Caerhays Estate garden which only open for a few months in Spring. Nestled overlooking Porthluney Cove beach, the estate has a beautiful castle and you can wonder around admiring the magnolias and other spring blooms before stopping at the cafe for a cuppa.

There are plenty of others to choose from. If you’re a National Trust member then Trelissick Gardens and Lanhydrock are lovely too. And if you’ve never visited Trerice on the way to Newquay, it’s a good one as well.

Beach walk and a spot of lunch

Pentewan is a good spot to stretch the legs, and there is a play area a little way down for the kids to let of some steam. You can stop for a burger afterwards at the Hubbox (booking essential), or Sunday roast at the Seahorse restaurant.

Of course Cornwall is full of favourite beach walks and you’ll have no shortage of ideas - this is just one!

Browse and brunch in Truro

If you’re like me, you love the chance to have a leisurely browse and this might be just the thing for you and your mum to do on Mothers Day. If not with your mum, let your partner take the kids and let you have some uninterrupted quality time in the shops!

I love wondering around Truro, and some of my favourite shops to browse are Bay Tree Home, Illustrated Living & Wishlist in Lemon Street Market and Uneeka. Nothing beats strolling the streets and stopping wherever takes your fancy before finding a nice spot for tea and cake or a light bite. Favourite places to dine for me are Bread & Butter, the Truro Arts Company Cafe, Lawrances or Lily’s of Truro. Pollen in the Park is lovely too for a takeaway drink and brownie.

If none of those take your fancy, why not have a take aways and movie day? Take some time to put your feet up, or do something pampering for yourself!

Mothers Day Gift ideas

Experiences are the thing to give as gifts these days. Ditch the tacky mug and plastic flowers and treat her to something really special, that will make her feel pampered and lovely.

Spa Days

Book in a spa treatment or day somewhere nice. St Michaels Resort Spa is a popular one, Bedruthan Hotel & Spa, and even the Cornwall in St Austell. I went for a treatment and lunch recently at the Nare Hotel on the Roseland. It was really lovely and the view from the restaurant over Carne beach was something special!

Gift Vouchers

Instead of something generic like a Boots voucher, why not purchase a voucher that can be used towards something more meaningful? A beauty treatment or massage - there are so many places around Truro that she can schedule for whenever suits her.

The Ultimate Mothers Day Gift

If you really want to treat the mum in your life, of course I’m going to say that the ultimate gift would be a makeover and photoshoot at my studio! I know it’s true!

She will be pampered and looked after like never before. Make up will be professionally applied, full styling advice given and even outfits provided, and magazine-style images will be taken that the whole family can treasure afterwards.

It would be an honour to photograph you all together too.

Vouchers are available on request, and packages start from £399.
