What we’ll cover
Having a portrait photography business involves so much more than having a camera and being able to take good photos. You can spend a lot of time trying to figure it all out the hard way! I will share the knowledge gained during my years as a self-employed baby & family portrait photographer.
Covered in the workshop will be things like:
Gear & equipment - what you’ll really need;
Business fundamentals - tax, insurance, contracts;
Selling - your pricing, products & services;
Style & genre - how to find your niche;
Finding clients & getting paid - how to make money from the start, and barriers to expect.
Q&A - your questions answered.
You’ll leave with some solid ideas of what you need to do next to turn your passion into your own business!
Not covered in the workshop:
Wedding, landscape, product or stock photography.
This workshop will also NOT teach how to take photos, with the focus being on practical business fundamentals.

about michelle
I started my business as a newborn, baby & family photographer 11 years ago when my firstborn was 6 months old. I had no childcare, and ran my business from home while he napped or in the evenings. The next 7 years were spent juggling the development of my craft, skills & knowledge with motherhood. Once my youngest started pre-school I could focus on the business more full time, and started renting a studio in Truro. Since then I’ve become a single mum, and my photography business is my livelihood.
I have learnt so much in the journey from ‘mum with a camera’ to full time professional, and I’d love to help others navigate the realities of turning their own passion for photography into a successful little business of their own.
