Boho motherhood photo shoot in the studio for Katy and Nora
This is my dear friend Katy with her little one, Nora. Aren't they gorgeous? I always want to do a happy dance when they agree to stand in as models for me.
I met Katy when she and her husband came to view our cottage, which we were due to move out of (this was in 2017). We both had a similar size bump and ended up becoming firm friends after our littles were born 6 weeks apart later that year.
Katy is a really cool person. She's a gardener (so is her husband), and I marvel each time I visit our old house at how they've transformed it inside and out with huge plants and their quirky and eclectic collection of furniture and magnificent houseplants. They've travelled and worked in some amazing places, and have settled in Cornwall for now. For a long time I hope! It's been fun watching Nora and my son Daniel growing alongside each other, and I love having such a like-minded friend I can chat to.
Katy wore the Fillyboo dress, which just works on everyone, it's so versatile and luxurious - even Katy said itβs better than what she got married in. Itβs got a gorgeous boho style which I love. (This, and more, can be viewed in my client wardrobe catalogue).
It was also lovely to be able to capture a few breastfeeding photos - I know she's going through the stage of knowing it may soon be coming to an end and processing those mixed emotions.
I've realised that photographing mothers with their babies and children is something I really love doing. I don't think we are in enough photos with our babies and it's so important. I don't mind if motherhood photo shoots are messy, awkward, emotional. To have photos of yourself with your children is all that matters - nursing, playing, cuddling up. #existinphotos
