At-Home Newborn photoshoot in Newquay, Cornwall

Capturing memories where they’re made

It was wonderful to hear the news that baby F had arrived safely by C-section. I’d met this lovely couple for their maternity photoshoot on the beach a few weeks prior and had been waiting for updates.

They asked me to come to their home in Newquay for the newborn photoshoot, which is always a pleasure. I love to include more lifestyle elements in sessions and home shoots are always special and full of natural loving moments.

Baby F was born 6lbs so very dinky, and she was an unsettled baby on the day of the session. But we had so many sweet moments and it was just amazing to be there in the newborn bubble, with all the bleary eyes, hormones, love and tenderness.

We began in the baby’s nursery, just me and mum. I’d brought along a couple of baby outfits and she chose a sleeveless knitted vest which fit baby F’s tiny body perfectly.

After trying to settle the baby for a while, we moved to the main bedroom to give her a feed. It’s typical during a newborn session for there to be at least one stop and I always try to capture a few shots with mum’s permission. Usually these are appreciated a few months/years later.

After being fed baby F had fallen asleep so we got some photos of her by herself in her moses basket, and then dad came up to join us for some photos.

We moved back to the main bedroom for a few on a special knitted blanket they wanted to incorporate, and then baby was changed into a knitted outfit that had been sent for her from family in Spain, and we headed to the kitchen for a few last family photos.

So many precious moments fill your days when you have a baby, and it’s so lovely to capture some for you.
