Maternity and family photography session at Idless Woods, Truro

I met one of my favourite families for a family session a few weeks before they welcomed the fifth member to the family fold.  We met at Idless Woods near Truro on the perfect summers evening to capture the family together with the bump.

Jo was my very first maternity client and I’ve been watching her family growing for years.  I still remember that session all those years ago, when it was just her and Matt.  They were such a sweet couple. I recall her teasing him about not wanting to get his hair messed up (funny the things that stick in your mind!).  We really got to know each other because they came back every few months to document their baby girl’s first year in a bump to baby package.

It's been really terrific watching this family grow alongside mine.  Elodie is now a proper young lady and Felix is so adorable too.

Jo is one of those fortunate women who genuinely enjoys pregnancy, although third time around I'm sure she didn't have that much time to relish it and must have been exhausted!  Still, she glowed despite having two little ones to run after!

We met at about 5pm in late June so the sun wasn’t too bright overhead and in the woods we had plenty of shade, and lovely back light. Jo and Elodie got changed down a little side path - I’d brought a stack of outfits and dresses from my client wardrobe for them - and we began with some family shots, walking along the dirt track. We headed into the woods and Matt took the children up for a play while me and Jo took some photos of her and her beautiful bump. Then we took some more fun family shots and ones of her with the little ones.

It was incredibly beautiful and peaceful with the sun filtering in through the trees and the sound of the birds. I always enjoy a good natter with Jo and it was fun catching up while Matt took the children for a little walk while we did more shots of Jo. They rejoined us and we ended off with more family shots and then some of just Jo and Matt.
