Shaking off the January blues with a mini couples session | Cornwall beach

I met up with the lovely Lynda and Mark at Carne beach a couple of weeks ago for a mini couples photography session.  Unfortunately it was raining and bleak that morning, but because we’d both made special arrangements to be there, we agreed to go ahead regardless.  Thankfully it stopped just before the shoot, so we got to stay dry even if it was a bit dim.

They live locally on the Roseland Peninsula and had been given a gift voucher for a couples photo shoot by their son.  Like most folks, they didn't have any decent or up to date photos of just the two of them, and because they’d just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary, it was a good time to get some taken!

They wanted photos of the two of them, and also some shots individually. It was over all too quickly and I enjoyed our chat immensely. Happy anniversary Mark and Lynda!

Why book an outdoor photo shoot in the winter?  It's cold, probably raining, not exactly beach weather.  Personally I LOVE the beach during the winter!  The light is usually spectacular, the colours in the winter sun are gorgeous, and there is nobody else about.  Really, winter is the ideal time for a beach session.

With the 'golden hour' light around for most of the day, sessions can happen at leisurely hours for families with small children, rather than at 8/9pm when the light is best in the Summer.

The colours were gorgeous and I love the tones with the soft sea spray in the background, as well as the depth by the rocks.  My favourite moment must be when I asked Lynda to give me a little twirl and she opened up her arms and spun around.  Beautiful!

It's wonderful photographing couples and I'd love to do a lot more dreamy outdoors sessions like this, so if you're interested please get in touch!
